H1N1 Pandamic Preparedness Conference

With the H1N1 pandemic spreading rapidly through the nation as well as the rest of the world, everyone is asking 1 simple question: - How does this pandemic affect me? The answer is, this pandemic can affect you in many ways.

1) can affect your health - you could get infected by it
2) could affect your job / career - If too many employees get ill, your organization might have to shut down as they are losing business
3) It is deadly - sad to say, but the H1N1 virus is deadly and those who get infected have the possibility of not surviving it.

Why is this so dangerous
Duing the Bird Flu outbreak, there wasn't much worry as the virus could only be transmitted from animals to humans. Hence if you do not handle live stock, you need not worry. However, although not too infectious, the mortality rate for the bird flu was pretty high.
But with the H1N1, what started out as a animal to human transmission has evolved into a more infectious illness, where not is spreading from human to human. With globalization and humans traveling the world, this disease is spreading fast. There is also a worry that potentially a new strain could be formed if the H1N1 virus combines with the bird flu virus, hence making it more deadly
